Our 120-Year History

1903

The opening of the Princes Street Station Hotel, rapidly renamed the Caledonian Station Hotel, heralded a new era of luxury and travel in Scotland.

1965

Princes Street Station eventually closed in 1965 and was demolished by 1970. This provided room for the hotel to expand the once circular ticket office into guest rooms.

2000

The hotel was purchased by Hilton Hotels & Resorts then rebranded as part of the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts portfolio in 2011.

Caledonian Railway clock and seating

2012

The guest rooms that stood in the original concourse and ticket office were transformed once again. The space is now The Court restaurant you see today.

Dining Area at Peacock Alley Restaurant

2015

Two concierges found a scroll listing the names of 70 employees who fought in the First World War. The magnificently restored piece of history now hangs in The Court.
