Beach Hotels in Del Mar, CA

Located just 20 miles from San Diego, Del Mar is known for being one of the most beautiful spots in Southern California. Nestled between San Diego and Los Angeles, this beach town has a long history of welcoming visitors, especially in the early 1900s when it began to develop as a resort destination. When it comes to beach hotels, Del Mar checks all the boxes, with a seaside country feel while having modern day convenience.

If you're looking for some hikes not far from your beach hotel, the Del Mar Mesa Trail is an excellent choice. It's only 1.3 miles long, but it's very scenic and has some nice views of the ocean. There are also some interesting plants along the way! If you want something more difficult and longer, try out the trail at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve—it's about 7 miles long and includes some steep sections. The views on this trail are incredible. No visit to Del Mar would be complete without a dip in the Pacific! Whether you’re a seasoned surfer or a novice, there’s plenty of places where you can rent boards or even take lessons if you want to learn how to surf yourself.

A day of surfing and swimming is sure to work up quite the appetite. Head over to eat some of the best Pacific catch at the Del Mar Fish Market! Whether you're looking for fresh fish or just want some delicious seafood dishes, the Fish Market is sure to satisfy any craving. Do make sure to make a stop at the famous Balboa Park. A 1,200-acre urban park in San Diego, California, Balboa Park was established in 1868 and is one of the oldest municipal parks in the United States! In addition to being home to museums and gardens, Balboa Park has an outdoor amphitheater called Spreckels Organ Pavilion that hosts concerts throughout the year. It’s also home to many significant historic structures such as Balboa Stadium (home of the San Diego Chargers) and The Prado (a Spanish-style shopping mall).

If you’re into golf, Del Mar is a golfer’s paradise. The Del Mar hotels have some incredible courses nearby, including Torrey Pines Golf Course, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., who also designed Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach and El Campeon Golf Course to name a few. Aside from it’s idyllic location, Del Mar is known for their horse races. The Del Mar Racetrack hosts more than 50 racing events each year, including the prestigious Pacific Classic Stakes. Some of the most beautiful thoroughbreds in the world gallop here. The races take place every Thursday through Sunday from early February through late June. There are also special events throughout the year, including an annual jockey show that takes place in August.
