A getaway to Las Vegas will have you feeling lucky in love. Think sunsets perched atop a stunning rock formation, cocktails overlooking the shimmering Las Vegas Strip and a sweet treat that’s a tribute to your loved one. Here are five romantic experiences in Sin City to fan the flames of love.
Get a bird’s-eye view
Head for the skies alongside your partner on a thrilling and intimate sunset helicopter ride over the iconic Las Vegas Strip. You can experience it all from above in a small group or, for some alone time, book with one of the many local charter companies that offer private flights for two. More than a few enamored fliers have popped the question during or after the exhilarating experience. Top it all off with a champagne toast among the twinkling city lights for a truly memorable Las Vegas moment.
Relax and connect
Set the mood for love with a couple's massage at Awana Spa at Resorts World Las Vegas. The modern yet warm space offers personal treatments and immersive facilities that inspire connection. Book a couple’s suite to experience a private 120- or 180-minute treatment, including 30 minutes of relaxation time. Once fully rejuvenated, head to the resort’s 66th floor where you’ll find the sophisticated Allē Lounge on 66. Perch side by side on a cushy banquette and sip on the Love Struck cocktail (vodka, raspberry and white creme de cacao). Order small plates to share such as big-eye tuna tacos or crispy bourbon chicken topped off with a sweet finale, a cookie butter espresso martini.
Desert delights
Just west of Las Vegas, a wonderland of towering sienna-colored sandstone formations awaits in the Mojave Desert. Cruise along the 13-mile (20.9 kilometer) Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive with the windows down and tunes cranked up. Sporty types can hike on one of 26 trails to observe a magical sunset. Our favorite: Trekking 2.2 miles (3.5 kilometers) on the Calico Tanks trail to see the lights of the city glittering in the distance — a perfect proposal spot for those inclined. Trail ride outfitters also offer guided sunset horseback jaunts through the canyon, some ending with steak or salmon seared over a campfire and s’mores for two to boot.
Cozy up for an outdoor movie
Catch a retro drive-in movie for a unique date night experience. Between smooches, catch recent releases digitally projected on a mammoth screen that’s even larger than the ones you typically find at a walk-in theater. A state-of-the-art system pipes sound into your vehicle’s stereo system; a modernized version of the old-school speakers that used to hang on a car door. Use your phone to order popcorn or hot dogs for pickup at the concession stand.
Savor sweet treats
Nothing says romance quite like chocolate, and local favorite Ethel M Chocolates sweetens any relationship. Watch chocolatiers work their magic on the factory floor, then indulge in a tasting paired with wine. Feeling inspired by your special someone? Create a custom collection (think cognac truffles or prickly pear satin creme enveloped in dark chocolate) to share back in the comfort of your hotel room. Bonus? Edith M’s adjacent 3-acre (1.2 hectare) cactus garden is the largest in Nevada. Stroll hand in hand through rows of blooming desert denizens, a particularly romantic experience during the holiday season and Valentine’s Day when everything is draped in twinkling lights.
Day or night, Las Vegas sets the stage for magical moments. Whatever your love language, it’s easy to make romantic memories that will last long after you’ve reluctantly headed home.
